Bio - Jimmy Tucker

I am the Percussion drummer for The Elect, and have been since August of 1994.  I decided at the age of 14 that I wanted to be a drummer.  My first drum kit which was purchased by my mother was a CB700.  I practiced in my bedroom and eventually grew into a more advanced kit ( PEARL ).  A special thanks to my mother; Carolyn Tucker for housing my drum kit for nearly 15 years; giving me the tools to make a dream a positive reality.

Influences

Jamming in the basement of Mr. Rick Boger's at age 16 started my passion for performing "live”, which I realize today does not necessarily constitute live performing.  Trust me when I say the pictures or live footage tells a very different story.  Mutual friends of Rick and I were Pete Lenges & Chad Baker.  The Elect already had a name in high school and one that was familiar to me.  Searching for the next step (a real band), after several auditions with Van Halen look a likes, Pete mentioned an audition for a Percussion Drummer.  I rented a set of Congo 's and showed up for practice at Chad 's, and that leads me to my favorite Elect song "Strawberry Jam" which The Band wrote that day.  The rest is creative history with a spoonful of funk.....

Also, Thanks to Tom Braun (drum teacher/ Rick's drums), John Whittman (drum teacher/ Rick's drums), for the overall knowledge and the countless hours of teaching.  Money well spent, still waiting for the return on my investment!  Special thanks to my musical idols...Elvis, The Doors, and The Black Crowe's.

I'm currently using Toca Player's Series.

Thoughts on Performing

Obviously, Percussion drummers are not the norm in most bands.  I feel that I am the spice, that you put in the mix, to add more flavor.  One of the many ingredients that make the chemistry on stage un-deniable is performing live with The Elect. Believe me this is a rush known to only the band members.  Something experienced over time and with friends, who are more like brothers.  I still get nervous before the shows, but the energy in the room consumes me, and before I know it the Music's over and we are tearing down ready for our next gig.  I'm blessed to be in the presence of friends, family and the many fans that have supported us for years.
