Bio - Brian Miller

I am the piano and organ player for The Elect. I grew up with a piano in the house. My parents, sister and brother learned to play through lessons and experimentation. The piano is considered a percussion instrument, so it fulfilled my desire as a child to beat on things and create music. I began playing with other musicians in junior high school. It wasn't until high school that I found musicians who could actually play a song from beginning to end without driving people out of a room. After a few years of odd & end bands playing school dances, trailer park parties, and basement gigs, I was introduced to musicians who actually had some talent and stage presence.

It was when I first saw The Elect that I felt I had a place in this crazy world of writing and performing music. I was asked to join, so I started in the band with my vocals, a tambourine, and a strong will to play and perform. I added a vintage electric piano and a Farfisa organ a few weeks later and began my journey with the best group of musicians I've ever played with.

I now play a Fatar Studio 900, full 88 keyboard with a kurtzwiel sound module and a Hammond XK2 organ. Both give me the vintage sound I want with the ability to plug into the most up to date sound systems in the country.

The Elect gives me an opportunity to be creative not only in the songs that I've written, but within the songs written by other members of the band. I think the one thing that makes The Elect special is the fact that we are all friends. We like and respect each other. Regardless of circumstances surrounding self, or gigs, once the music starts, we come together and enjoy the moment. It seems to transcend the stage and give the audience a peaceful, easy feeling. For this, I will always be thankful.
